Adjacent to the separate male and female campsites is a modern shower-house and restroom facility designed and approved for use by all persons with disabilities.
The “Callahan Express”, a specially designed trailer, provides transportation between program areas for non-ambulatory campers.
Along the trails crossing the camp are many activity areas; a
special Arts & Crafts shelter, the camp’s swinging bridge, a variety of
nature study areas, archery range, rifle range, zipline, campfire areas and the waterfront are used by all campers. The air conditioned Nurse’s Lodge is located along the main camp road between the campsites and the dining hall. The dining hall is equipped with handicapped accessible toilet facilities, and it doubles as the “rainy day” activity center.
The lure of Lake Saukenauk is one of fun, safety, and relaxation. Certified lifeguards
welcome everyone to the swimming area as they explain the safety rules of the
dock-enclosed wading and beginning swimming area, and the diving platform and
deep water area for experienced swimmers. Trained staff accompany the campers
everywhere they go in the waterfront area. Fun and instruction are found at the
boating and fishing areas of Lake Saukenauk.
